UPDATE: It appears that MEK has taken responsibility for this attack. We will update the story shortly.

Update 2: At present it is hard to clarify the details of this attack, a number of conspiracy theories are developing — some are declaring it as a “false flag” operation conducted by the Iranian regime and the footage handed off to MEK. We will continue to update as more facts come to light.

In the early hours of 30 December 2019, protesters acting in solidarity with those that engaged in the November Iran uprisings, attacked the headquarters of an engineering, mining, and defense conglomerate operated by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps.

The protesters, who supporters refer to as only “defiant youth” detonated an incendiary explosion at the entrance to the headquarters of the Khatam al-Anbiya headquarters in Tehran. The explosion seems to be relatively small and there are no reported injuries or arrests at this time.

Still, the operation is particularly impressive since the Iranian regime is currently on high alert fearing a resurgence of the November uprisings.

Location of the bombing

Khatam al-Anbiya Construction (also known as GHORB) is one of Iran’s largest contractors and has not only been the lead developer for numerous domestic infrastructure projects but has also assisted nations with military construction projects.

In Venezuela, GHORB assisted the regime with the construction of missile launch pads on the Paraguana Peninsula.

The conglomerate has been subject to American sanctions since 2007. In 2008, the European Union followed, levying sanctions against GHORB while citing their ties to Iran’s development of a nuclear weapons program, and in 2010, the UN Security Council adopted UN Security Council Resolution 1929 which placed additional sanctions against the organization.

The National Council of Resistance of Iran, an organization viewed as front organization for the People’s Mujahedin of Iran (MEK), was first to report the incident:

“On the 40th day memorial of the martyrs of the November 2019 Iran uprising, defiant youth attacked and torched the IRGC’s Khatam ol-Anbiya Construction Headquarters in the early hours of this morning, December 30, 2019.

Located on the corner of Zarafshan and Shajarian streets in Tehran, Khatam ol-Anbiya is one of the largest IRGC conglomerates for suppression and plunder of the Iranian people’s wealth.

The assault came while the regime’s suppressive forces were on full alert, fearing the upsurge in the uprising.”
